CFUW Perth and District Education Awards

Nine accomplished and inspiring young women received education awards from CFUW Perth and District at a reception on May 30. Supporting the education of women and girls is one of CFUWs goals, and the financial assistance the awards provide will help these Lanark County residents achieve their post-secondary education goals.

The 2024 recipients are Olivia Bourque, Chloe Clair, Abigail Flinn, Sienna Geissler, Penny Patterson, Ivanna Pylypenko, Bryanne Rochon, Mia Trudel, and Jade Van Klei . Their career goals are wide-ranging, and include nursing, physiotherapy, creative writing, teaching, computer programming, and social service work, and they will be studying at Queen’s University, the University of Western Ontario, the University of Ottawa, Guelph University, Nipising University, Algonquin College, and St. Lawrence College.

These women are already accomplished, with impressive histories of academic achievement, volunteering in their communities, holding down part-time jobs, and taking on leadership roles in their schools. CFUW Perth and District is proud to be associated with such committed and hard-working members of our local community and looks forward to hearing about their future accomplishments.

The awards application process can be accessed through the club website www.cfuwperth.org/education-awards. CFUW volunteers advise local schools and youth organizations when the application process is opened to deserving individuals who identify as female or non-binary and who can demonstrate a need for financial support with their post-secondary studies. Since 1999, CFUW Perth & District has awarded $251,275 in Education Awards to 195 women who have demonstrated financial need and readiness to succeed in college or university.

Financing for the awards comes from the club’s fundraising activities. This year’s major fundraiser, a Home and Garden Tour, takes place on July 6 between 9:30 and 4:30.  For details or tickets, visit www.cfuwperthhomeandgarden.org

CFUW Perth and District congratulates the educational award winners for 2024.
