Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Lanark County (BBBS) definitely know how to go big!
CFUW Perth & District member and chair of the Education, Literacy, and the Arts Committee Marg Bartlett (far right) presented BBBS with our club's donation November 8.
Our $500 donation is earmarked for a 50/50 split between “Big Sisters Mentoring” & “In-School Mentoring” for Girls.
The Big Sisters mentoring program provides girls and young women with a role model to talk to and share the experiences of growing up with. Currently, BBBS has 18 matches of Big/Little Sisters & Big/Little Brothers, with 4 matches in process. However, there are 32 children/teens waiting for Big/Little matches.
The In-School mentoring program provides youth with a role model and a friend to talk to and share the experiences of growing up within school grounds. For one hour a week, mentors meet with their mentee and engage in activities such as board games, crafts or just hang out on school grounds. Presently, there are 7 In-School mentors in Lanark County.
